Why us

Occupational Therapy

At FELIS, we aim to help children and adults become independent and enable them to participate in daily activities.

Sensory Integration

Sensory integration, also known as sensory processing, is the process by which the brain recognizes and responds to information our senses provide. So, this means how we process or integrate things that we see, taste, smell, touch, or hear — as well as the way that our body exists in space.

Visual - perceptual Skill

Our techniques strengthens the ability to recognize and identify words, sequence alphabets, comprehend reading material, solve mental math, complete puzzles, and confidently perform everyday tasks.

Self-Care and Independence

We empower children to master essential self-care tasks like dressing, feeding, grooming, and toileting, promoting greater independence and everyday confidence.

Prewriting and Handwriting

Pre-writing refers to the fundamental skills children must master before they are physically or cognitively ready to write letters and numbers. Handwriting is the complex act of expressing language by forming legible characters on a surface.

Fine and Gross Motor Skills

We build strength, balance, coordination, and body awareness to help children move with confidence, improve posture, and participate fully in play, sports, and daily routines.

Neuro-Developmental Therapy

Our approach supports brain and body integration, enhancing sensory processing, motor planning, emotional regulation, and cognitive growth.

Frequently asked questions

What Is Occupational Therapy?

Occupational Therapy helps people do the everyday activities they need or want to do, especially if an illness, injury, or disability makes it hard. Therapists work with people to make tasks like getting dressed, cooking, working, or playing easier and more manageable.

Occupational Therapy has several advantages like:

  • Improved range of motion

  • Improved strength

  • Improved ability to do simple daily tasks safely

  • Reduced pain while doing daily tasks

  • Improved hand-eye coordination

  • Improved visual skills

  • Improved ability to participate in play activities

  • Improved performance in school

When choosing an Occupational Therapist for your child, look for someone who is properly trained and has good experience working with kids who have similar challenges. A good therapist should not only have the right skills but also be patient, kind, and able to connect with children. They should use fun, child-friendly techniques to make therapy enjoyable and effective.

Every child is different, so the time needed for Occupational Therapy can vary a lot. Some children might need just a few sessions, while others may need ongoing support for several years. How long your child needs therapy depends on a few things:

  • The type and severity of your child’s condition. For example, a child with mild delays might need less therapy than a child with more serious conditions like autism or cerebral palsy.

  • If your child has several challenges to work on, they might need more therapy compared to a child who only has a few areas to improve.

  • Families who actively take part in the therapy process often see faster progress, which can mean fewer sessions over time.

Occupational Therapy is generally very safe and beneficial for children when carried out by a trained and experienced therapist. Serious side effects are rare. However, like with any active therapy, some children might experience minor and temporary discomforts such as:

  • Mild muscle soreness

  • Fatigue or tiredness

  • Temporary confusion when learning new skills

  • Frustration or irritability during challenging tasks

In very rare cases, children with certain medical conditions might experience symptoms like chest pain, but this is extremely uncommon and is carefully monitored by our professionals. Our highly skilled therapists are committed to making therapy a positive and safe experience for your child. Our careful approach helps minimize the risk of any side effects and ensures your child feels supported every step of the way.
